Bitumen 80/100 is a penetration grade bitumen with a penetration of 80–100 (0.1 mm at 25 °C, ASTM D5) — slightly softer than 60/70. It is used for asphalt pavements and to manufacture bitumen emulsions, cutback bitumen and modified bitumen. Petroseal Enterprises supplies it across Pakistan and exports it from Karachi to Europe.

What is bitumen 80/100?

Bitumen is a black or dark-brown, non-crystalline, viscous material obtained from crude oil by fractional distillation. It is adhesive and waterproof, and it is thermoplastic: it softens when heated and hardens as it cools. Penetration-grade bitumen is designated by its penetration range alone.

Bitumen 10/20 vs 60/70 vs 80/100

The two numbers are the penetration range: how far a standard needle sinks into the bitumen at 25 °C, in tenths of a millimetre. A lower number means a harder bitumen.

Bitumen 10/20 (penetration 10–20) is the hardest grade, used for high-modulus asphalt. Bitumen 60/70 (60–70) is the standard paving grade for hot-mix asphalt base and wearing courses. Bitumen 80/100 (80–100) is softer and is also used to make bitumen emulsions, cutback bitumen and modified bitumen.

Frequently asked questions

+What is bitumen 80/100 used for?

Bitumen 80/100 is a paving grade used in asphalt mixes. It is also commonly used to manufacture bitumen emulsions, cutback bitumen and modified bitumen.

+Is bitumen 80/100 softer than 60/70?

Yes. Its penetration at 25 °C is 80–100 tenths of a millimetre compared with 60–70 for 60/70. A higher penetration number means a softer bitumen.

+What are the specifications of bitumen 80/100?

Penetration 80–100 (ASTM D5), ductility at least 100 cm (ASTM D113), flash point at least 232 °C (ASTM D92), loss on heating at most 0.20 % (ASTM D6), retained penetration at least 75 % and solubility in trichloroethylene at least 99 % (ASTM D2042).

+How is bitumen 80/100 packed for export?

Petroseal ships bitumen 80/100 from Karachi in new steel drums or in bulk. Each shipment includes a batch COA, SDS, certificate of origin and packing list, with third-party inspection on request.

+Can I buy bitumen 80/100 in Pakistan?

Yes. Petroseal supplies bitumen 80/100 all over Pakistan. Send the quantity, packaging and delivery city for a quotation.
