PETROSEAL

Application

Foundation Waterproofing Systems in Pakistan

Foundation waterproofing protects structural concrete against ground moisture and hydrostatic pressure. Petroseal uses bitumen membrane systems—typically SBS where flexibility and detailing matter—applied to prepared foundations with continuous coverage at corners, pile caps, and service entries, then protected before backfill. Design must align with the structural engineer’s drainage and waterstop strategy.

Technical requirements

  • —Compatible primer on concrete
  • —Protection board or screed before backfill
  • —Continuous detailing at changes of plane

Limitations

  • —Cannot compensate for missing site drainage design

Application sequence

  1. Prepare and prime substrate
  2. Install membrane to design height
  3. Seal penetrations
  4. Protect and backfill carefully

Common failure modes

  • —Backfill damage
  • —Discontinuous coverage at corners

FAQ

Is foundation waterproofing the same as basement waterproofing?
They overlap. Foundation waterproofing focuses on structural contact with soil; basement systems also address occupied below-grade spaces, rafts, and internal finishes.
